As new generations discover alternative spirituality, and the uncertainty of the pandemic inspires people to discover their spiritual side, mystical and celestial patterns are a key trend for 21/22 and beyond.

The past 2-3 years have seen a growing trend for mystical and soulful living inspired by self-discovery and a desire to connect to a higher self. The trend has seen an explosion in mystical and celestial patterns in 2021, rendered in both dark and light ethereal themes filled with sun, moon and stars, tarot, astrology, divination, witchcraft and occult motifs.

Once a design expression reserved for Halloween or alternative markets, mystical themes are now moving into the everyday mainstream, and are predicted to be a key art licensing trend lasting for several years beyond 2021 across all product markets including apparel, gifting, homewares and stationary.

As an art licensing designer, and surface pattern artist my creative practice has been inspired for many years by the magic and mystery of folklore and folk practices that have been woven into fabric of the British Isles for thousands of years.

Over the past year I have created several new collections and hero illustrations that focus on folklore, mystical and magical themes with new designs being added every month.

The symbols, signs and meanings shown in my work are all culturally authentic, and based on my extensive experience and research of alternative faith and spirituality over three decades.
